The Lothian Bus Consortium Trust (LBCT) originated as a club for employees of Lothian Region Transport (LRT), one of a number of clubs which formed part of the transport department’s welfare association.
In due course, it separated from LRT, making it more open to participation by non-employees with an interest in Edinburgh buses.
As it developed it became active in preserving former Edinburgh buses and also organised other activities for enthusiasts in the Edinburgh area. A reorganisation later divided it into two entities: the Lothian Bus Consortium focused on the preservation of vehicles, while the Edinburgh Transport Group took over the more ‘social’ side of activities. The LBC’s collection of buses has been based at the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum at Lathalmond, Fife, since 1995.
LBCT is wholly independent from Lothian Buses but we are proud to play our part in preserving Edinburgh’s transport heritage.
Please consider supporting our hard work to keep Edinburgh’s transport heritage in working order for future generations!
